06 833 6653 Ngati Kahungunu/ Rongomaiwahine Iwi and the Health Funding Agency inititally established TRHHI in 1997, as an emerging Integrated Care Organisation (ICO). Its purpose was to: "Work in co-operation with and coordinate a network of alliances nationally and regionally to purchase and provide local and public and personal health and disability support services to Maori" In November 1999, TRHHI established as a Maori Development Organisation (MDO) in the Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa regions, to assist and support Maori health providers within its membership, to enable provision of comprehensive health services to Maori. There are currently ten providers within the membership of TRHHI. The Organisation is funded by Ministry of Health and Hawkes Bay District Health Board to improve the health status of Maori by providing effective services for Maori Mental Health, Public Health, Primary and Secondary Healthcare and Disability Support Services. It aims to: "Provide leading health care services to the Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa Maori population" To work within a Tiriti O Waitangi framework and its principles of participation, partnership and protection (active) To be guided by Maori principles/tikanga:
To support kaupapa Maori services Strategic Intent‘To improve the health status of Maori within an acceptable quality and developmental framework based upon the Organisation’s philosophy and the following principles’ Facilitation of Improved Access & Utilisation Improvements in Choice and coverage Targeted delivery of high quality innovative services Co-operation, Participation & Partnership with other Providers’ Co-ordination and Integration Robust Management Maori Provider Development Maori enrolment ‘To achieve whanau wellness’ Te Roopu Huihuinga Hauora will work to improve the funding and delivery of services to Maori, with responsibilities for achieving specified Maori health gain priorities, coordinating service delivery, and working with both Maori and mainstream providers to build their capacity to deliver comprehensive and responsive services to Maori. The services will be:
To promote assist and support Maori enrolment To continue to provide and build capacity of contract management services to its members To promote and support the recognition and adequate resourcing of Maori Rongoa To increase the Maori Health Workforce in Hawkes Bay, Wairoa To examine the feasibility of establishing as a Primary Health Organisation To promote and maintain effective partnerships with all key stakeholders that provide services to Maori To build Maori Primary Health service capacity To advocate and build the capacity of whanau development in the health sector To develop a Maori Development Organisation of Excellence To develop and implement a Public Relations and Marketing Strategy Directors Chief
