The key note speakers were Minister of Maori Affairs, Parekura Horomia and Te Roopu Huihuinga Hauora Chairman, Syd Jackson. Te Arawhata ki te Rangi clearly articulates Te Roopu Huihuinga Hauora's strategic direction for the next 5 years. One of TRHHI’s objectives has been to ensure that providers have "robust and efficient financial systems". A project to implement an electronic financial system across all TRHHI providers was initiated to achieve this objective. Over the past three months steady progress had been made on training our providers to use the NZA Gold accounting package. Up until the August 1 the following milestones have been met:
Over the month of August, the configuration of the general ledger will be implemented across all providers. Opening accounts will be entered and the system will be ready to go "live". One on one training will be carried out over this time to ensure that providers are comfortable with the monthly procedures for each module. Any queries can be directed to TRHHI Business & Finance Manager, Bayden Barber. Provider
Business Seminars Hauora staff have been quick to commended both the standard of the presenters (all of which have extensive experience in their respective fields) and the quality of the content material delivered. TRHHI Business and Finance Manager, Bayden Barber has worked closely with BIZ Hastings manager Bill Logan to ensure that seminar content focused on the needs of TRHHI providers and was practicable enough to implement into their organisations with minimal fuss. The seminars also provided opportunities to develop networks with other Maori in business. Te Wana is about standards aimed at promoting quality outcomes for consumers, to guide staff in service development and to enable quality improvement, evaluation and accountability. Their purpose is to develop a consistent, high level of quality across services. They do not aim to impose uniformity, standardization or a minimal level of quality. TRHHI sees our members as being proactive in their objectives in the development of their services to a high health standard. We thank those services who are participating in this project.
