Te Whanau Awhina O Waimarama was established in 1997. The Organisation employs a Manager, two staff and a part time General Practitioner service. The region covered is Waimarama and Omahu (Fernhill) and surrounding areas.

The funded health services provided are:

• Whanau Ora for health promotion and education services in all MHGPAs

• Breast screening (Mahia-Pahiatua)

• One off contract to develop business and strategic plans

• Community Asthma

• Integrated Diabetes

The organisation also has a free General Practitioner clinic at Omahu and Waimarama that is not funded. A corrections contract is also held. There are 440 registered clients, of which 410 are Maori.
